I’m guessing some people might not know what power radio they really need to broadcast at. The best I got with 2W internal and external antenna was 4 miles on very flat land at a huge rail yard.
An external radio won’t help you if you are down or up a hill.
I use a 450 CCA learn and garden battery to power my base. When fairly new it’ll last 5 days with internal radio. With 16W , or was it 8?, on 450 TDL it’ll last a work day. So do you really need to try to broadcast at 35 W? 🤔

New to this so I’m not sure, that’s why I’m asking questions so I don’t have to learn the hard way. Can you tell a difference between 10w and 35w? Just trying to keep from hiking back and forth to base because battery is dead.
