I went to Tractor Supply today to buy some barbed wire. The length of wire on the tag said 80 rods. I had to explain to the clerk.
Just curious, was it made in China?

lol....good one.
But if it were made in China, don't you think they would have said 79.535 rods?

...and it is a frunny way to measure rarbed wire
Educate me - what is the significance of the number 79.535 rods? "80 rod" spools aren't intentionally a few feet short are they?
400 meters = 79.535 rods
Edit: Sort of like the soda bottle on my desk.....16.9 fl oz (1.06 pt) 500 mL
I've taught youngsters in the field for several years that if section corner or ¼ corner hunting down a fence line to look for ends of wire rolls, where it's tied together, may not be exact, but it's a good place to start looking.
So are you doing a section breakdown or what?

What a bunch of overthinkers we got here...
I got what you meant. But, I think you left out the middle part of the conversation like "what's a rod? Why is it stated like that? How long is a rod?" and things like that.
