Does anyone know if there is a university that offers a bachelor in surveying online? I have a 2 year degree but wish to futher my education so I will be eligible to sit for PLS for the states that require a 4 year degree. any help would be greatly helpful.
Great Basin College in Elko, NV offers an online BAS in Surveying/Geomatics.
East Tennessee State University offers an online ABET accredited BS in Surveying and Mapping.

I am in the process of getting all my stuff to ETSU. I too have a 2 year in Civil/Construction Engineering Technology, and a few other college classes, and transferred in 93 credit hours.
I am 35 or so hours from my bachelor's degree, and I am excited. Your transfer credits may vary, or course.
Mr. Taylor, Dr. Clark, and their staff have been great in helping me get things together.
Good luck!

What is the going out of state tuition for these online degrees?
If you are a surveyor, you are a bachelor.... that is, you are either married to a woman, or to the survey, but you can't do them all at once!
(I'm trying to figure out how to do them together, but the WOMAN always wins!!)

You must be a glutton for punishment. I hope there is a good reason for a multi-state licensee to subject himself to that level of torture.

Each school has different requirements so you will have to visit each school’s main website to get an answer.
Tommy,
It is something that I have always wanted. You never know what the future holds, so having that bachelor's degree might help me down the road.
One I found out that I only needed 35 or so hours, it was a no brainer. I am not in a hurry, so I will just plug away at it as the classes become available on-line.

ETSU has a mostly online program. There are few classes within surveying they may need to be taken there but I'm not sure. Also you have to think of the other non-surveying classes you might have to take to get the bachelors (whether they are available online).
In your backyard. NC A&T
I talked with them but there not 100 percent online. They do have a thing with cpcc where I can take classes at cpcc and get credit but I need all online. I'm only 27 so if I can obtain a 4 year within another 4 years ill be good.
4 Years To Go From An AS To A BS Is A Solid Goal...
Considering you have to have some time to work.
Keep coming back for advice along the way.

Great Basin College is totally online, reasonable cost and they will be accredited at some point
I talked with a reliable source last night and he assured me A&T now is completely on-line. When did you last speak with them because the change was very recent.
Bachelor in Surveying, I Believe ABET Is The Key
Chevis has an AS in Surveying.
From the Great Basin website:
"The Land Surveying/Geomatics Program has been accepted to meet the educational requirements for licensure in Nevada and many other states. The potential student is advised to check with the licensure board of your state to verify that the GBC Program will meet the educational requirement for licensure."
If Chevis has a certain list of states in which he needs a 4 year degree to apply, he should check each one out individually, if ABET accreditayion is a requirement. If he only wants to aplly to Nevada, Great Basin is OK. However even if Great Basin was acceptable to State "X" for John Doe, Jane Doe's GB BAS is not automatically accepted in State "X". ABET takes that extra work off of your table.
Chevis is in North Carolina, but is not yet listed as licensed. I will assume that he has taken the FS exam and is now working on his 4 years experience to take the PS exam. With a BS degree, NC only requires 2 years experience after the FS. I do not see that NC has an ABET requirement. I doubt NC is why he is asking the BS question, since by the time he has acquired a BS he should also have met the 4 years experience.
Having a non ABET BS and also being licensed should carry some weight when applying to an ABET BS requirement state as to the value of the degree. State Boards however can be very nit picky.

I have seen schools that offer the in-state tuition rate for out-of-state residents enrolled in an exclusively on-line program.

I have 8 years experiance. I have taken and passed the FS. I took my NC test and failed the national part so i have to retake that in April. I want a 4 year because I live on the SC state line and work in SC right across the NC/SC line. SC requires a 4 year degree. LAst time I talked with A&T was 1 year ago. I look into A&T again. Thank for all the advice.
