What should I do about an Attorney revised (whited out ??) my stamped Exhibit map and included it in a recorded document without my consent?

I would assume you could record an affidavit stating that document xyz has an altered exhibit?  (If you wanted to get it in the record.)  Cover your arse with your Board and notify them if statutory items have been erased from your plat/exhibit by the attorney?

The original post implies that a portion of the original drawing was reproduced in the revised map, rather then using the information to create a new drawing. This would be a copyright infringement.

If the revised drawing contained the surveyor's stamp or signature that misleads the reader to believe the document is the work of the surveyor, then the attorney probably has also committed fraud.

Rather than take this to the survey board I would first recommend a formal complaint to the bar association.

I once produced a small map showing the location of a stacked block wall relative to a right of way line. The bottom of the wall encroached, the top was clear. A text note described the situation in detail. The client whited out my text before forwarding the document to the city inspector. I was unaware of this until I got a call from a city inspector asking for clarification. I forwarded a true copy to the inspector, resolved not to trust that client anymore, and let the matter drop. But I no longer do work for that client.

A lot depends on just exactly what was published and used but my response might go something like:

1. Write the attorney to express your outrage

2. Write to the parties of the recorded document to explain your position

3. File a complaint to the Bar Association

4. Notify the state board governing surveyors
