Spotted on the video for Topcon's LN-100, it would only suite certain applications but i'm interested in finding out some more.

A free standing bracket, with a plumb laser with a 360 Prism, and the ability to fine adjust in two direction.

I bet those poles and brackets aren't going to be cheap.
You would also hate to get dirt into them to make it hard to slide.
