Field notes...........please!

By all means. But you have admit that at first blush this doesn't look good for the BLM.
And BTW - from my past life in the mining business I know that this is gold rush country. The area may not be fully developed buts it's probably solid patented mining claims from well prior to 1950.

Me too!
I've been out there all day.
Right now I have to go take my Mom out to dinner; it's Mom & Dad's 61st Wedding Anniversary (Dad died 3 years ago).
We picked up a copy of C.E. Bronson's 1949 Unrecorded Survey at the C.S.'s office this afternoon on our way back. It shows setting pipes out there.
Monday I will pick up the BLM Notes (the C.S. didn't have them that new) from the BLM office on Cottage Way. Then I'll know more.
Me too!
Thanks Dave,
I know you will do the research right.

He was just griping because he had no Idea why the BLM would ignore a monument that had been there at least 20 years before their "remonumentation".
It could be they were monumenting a line which has nothing to do with bona fide rights and bona fide rights have nothing to do with the original location of the corner.
Been there, seen that.

I could give many answers too, but since I don't know the facts.....I will wait for the facts.
Others should too.

Keith, this is so unlike you. This may seem a bit intrusive, but abrupt changes in personality can often be symptoms of other underlying conditions. Can you say what day it is? How many fingers am I holding up?
Kent
I think it best if I don't respond.

Yes, best not to until you know all the facts. :>
Hold on...
touchy touchy.
I said I'm still gathering information.
Protest? ha, it's a little late for that. It isn't really a huge problem, mostly 8 to 10" trees.
I meant the initial post title to be light hearted. Sorry if I offended.
It is in Pine Grove, California near Jackson on Mt. Zion Road.
Can we see what the field notes say?
I will get the Field Notes on Monday. I was hoping the C.S. has them but he doesn't have them. He has some other newer BLM Field Notes but not those ones.
Field notes...........please!
There are some Patented Mineral Surveys but they are in a different part of the Section.
Me too!
There's a lot of interesting stuff going on in this Forest.
There is an unpatented Mineral Claim that a little corner overlaps into our forest (a couple of acres). It has pipe and stone mound corners set by C.E. Bronson in the 1940s. One of the corners is a little into the forest. C.E. Bronson's unrecorded Survey I got today shows a the entire Section 9 and a bunch of other stuff (small tracts, Mineral Surveys retraced and this claim which was new then.
The State first leased the triangular piece to the Claim owner for five years then Deeded it to him in the late 1950s. The State R/S shows the Deeded triangle with 3 corners set/found (it isn't clear on the map). Only one can be found today.
Maybe the BLM 1970 Survey found and tied the corners of that claim. There are two cabins, one on the triangle they got from the State and the other on unpatented land.

The field notes will have the facts.

Seems like when I post anything here, Kent takes it upon himself to issue insults, so see if you can read anything positive from his remarks.
Your opening post did jump the gun, whether kidding or not, and left the impression that BLM did something wrong; as the follow up posts indicate.
Hey, BLM land surveyors are not perfect and capable of making mistakes and are willing to admit it when it is shown to be a mistake.
But, we don't know that yet and their field notes should clarify exactly what they did and why they did it. And we look forward to those facts.
Despite what Kent says.

The facts that the BLM had in hand in 1970, that is. These might not be all the facts that were available.
Keith...
Sorry about that.
Dave
Hopefully the field notes will have the answer and whatever the problem, a letter to BLM stating the circumstances would always be welcome.
Keith
Dave
I'll post some photos of Bronson's Survey in a little while.
Unfortunately Plates and Field Notes are not on-line for California but the MTPs are.
I'll get the Notes from BLM on Monday.
