Human remains found by survey crew.
Unfortunately, it was our survey crew.
Had that happen to our crew in the seventies. Just a skull visible. Turned out it was native american remains of uncertain age. It appeared the victim had gotten hung up in some brush near a small creek (dried up long ago) and drowned.
.
This is one thing I hope I never find!

Back in the 70's I knew a crew that opened a storm manhole and found remains.
Something I'd rather not do either.....
This particular project is cursed. We've already had a rodman that worked with us for three days go berserk and try to kill the pary chief with a machete. He hurt his finger and is now suing us for damages.
Unfortunately this has happened twice to companies for which I worked. In the 70s a crew went out to perform perc tests on a proposed subdivision site and found a car with a body inside. Apparent suicide several days earlier.
In the 80s we were doing a ground run topo and a rodman found a skull. Later investigation by the police determined it to be from a woman reported missing a year or so before.
In about 1980 Atlanta was experiencing the infamous missing and murdered children episode. We were doing a topo in an industrial area not far from where at least two of the young boys went missing. We had cut and staked the lines one day and were coming back to run the levels. As I walked down a cut line I saw a pair of legs sticking out into the cut line. My heart went to my throat thinking I had found one of the missing children. It turned out to be a wino that had wandered down the line and passed out, but it sure got my attention.

The photo caption uses the term "road crew". Not overly complimentary for a professional services team. A chain gang comes to mind.
You ever seen his crew?? :-X o.O :excruciating:
a friend of mine found a suicide hanging in a tree in a brushy area on Mercer Island. I did a lot of surveying in Kent, Wa where the green river killer dumped all his bodies. Thankfully I never found one. Forensic surveying is something I've done for a couple of municipalities I worked for, the bodies were usually removed before we got there, but I made many topo calls for bloodstain, bullet hole, etc.
Afew years ago one of my crews found a body of a blackman in SE Missouri near New Madrid. Called the sheriff and Missouri Highway Patrol it was evident by the crew members he had been shot.
The sheriff kicked the grass a little and ruled it a suicide and left for coffey and donuts.
