I mentioned here before that I was getting a new Trimble Tablet because the screen would be much easier on my eyes. So I ordered one from my dealer with Access and the Roading module included. Worked fine with my S6. When I tried to Bluetooth to my GPS receivers, it would connect, but Access would not recognize them. My units were originally SPS780 Extreme units (from the construction side of Trimble), but were sold by the same dealer as being exactly the same as a 5800 or R8 except for the color of the stripe on them. Had to have a HOBO code for my controller to recognize them, but they have always worked fine with Trimble Survey Controller. In fact they show up as R8 receivers. So Trimble says if you want to use Access with the construction units, you pay another $200 for that part to be unlocked. So I agreed to that (I have to deal with several other SPS units) and installed it, still no go. So salesman came up and tried it, he couldn't get it to work. It would connect to his R10, and would connect to an old 5800 that is several years older than my units. He took my rover and the tablet with him, spent a couple of days on the phone with Trimble Support, and called and said they finally got it to work. He brought it to the office the next day, but then it would not bluetooth to anything we had, not the receiver he had already connected to, not even his R10. So he took both the receiver and tablet back with him to Trimble in Dayton. After they looked at it, they had the same problem and told him the tablet was "hosed" and they would order another one. Lo and behold, the dealer got the new one and tried it, and it does the same thing. Now they are telling me it just may not work with the older receivers. However, the salesman had a TSC3 with Access on it, and it would connect to all the units fine. So now it's been suggested by the dealer that whatever the problem is, Trimble may not be interested in making it work, since these are older units. HMMMMMM. The tablet with roading is over $11,000, but I haven't written any checks yet. All it has to do is work. Seems like if it wasn't supposed to work, somebody with Trimble who was trying to get it to work would have mentioned that.

I would say it's worth it if you don't have to use windows mobile 6.5, like is on the TSC3. Just a horrible, horrible operating system.

Cost is for Yuma 2 tablet, Access, 2.4 Radio for connection to S6, Roading, and CI to connect to construction instruments. Has a 7" touch screen with Gorilla Glass, GPS, wifi and camera.

So exactly what can you do with that? I'll look at all the options, but it has to be able to connect to a robot radio and GPS, and be able to mount on a rod for solo work.

We use them in place of the Trimble Tablet.

Tell us more! Does trimble load their software on it? How does it connect to a trimble robot/ gps? Does it have any drawbacks? Can you see it in bright sun light? Can you run cad on it? Please give us the skinny about it! Thanks, Jp

Yes tell us more. Does it have the internal radio and GPS for robotic use with GPS search? Does it run Access?

I run Trimble SC900 software on it.
It connects to devices using BlueTooth.
Bright sun has always been a problem for us down here, this uses the latest non-glare technology and is decent. A lot better than the little screens. But still it's better in the shade.

It connects with WiFi for GNSS and OPUS sessions.

It's a full blown computer so yes it runs cad or any software.

It has phone capabilities so you can send files back and forth.
But we use a hot spot because we already had it.

We tried the Trimble Tablet and choose this instead.

The link is now bad. What did you get? and does it connect to an S6 via radio?
We are looking to replace our TSC2's, the 3 is barely an improvement and the tablet is a bit overprice at 11k. When you can get a yuma2 stand alone for 3500.
