I could not complete a min standards ALTA survey for that price from scratch,:-@ but honestly, I don't think I could update a recently done ALTA for that price.:-/ Thankfully, I don't have to.
An ALTA for $698 ????
I'd have more than $698 worth of time involved before I finally quit laughing.
> On the other hand, price could be the only issue. How could you get quality, educated, experienced people in an endeavor that does not pay well?
Exactly. The El Cheapo surveys do damage to the public and do systematic damage to the profession. For that reason alone, they are a major breach of professional ethics because they act to destroy the systems of property ownership in which the role of the surveyor is a necessary part. Can anyone imagine a modern system of real property ownership without some objective expert to routinely make determinations as to the boundaries and physical extent of such rights of ownership? Most alternatives I can think of would be wasteful disasters.
