A friend of mine needs a 24" wide printer.

Another friend of mine has a HP1000 Designjet printer. He bought it 5 years ago, but never set up his office it is still in the box after 5 years or so. As I recall, this is a color, 24" wide printer from HP and was a low-end printer which sold for $1000. It is now discontinued (whatever that means).

Is it worth anything? Can you still get cartridges?

Designjet 1000 is probably top end. The Designjet 100 was bottom of the barrel at $1000 more or less. I still have two that I use for trot-line anchors.

HP Printer DesignJet 100

Perry,

Staples has the cartriges and printheads available on line.
Costs aren't too bad.

I've had mine for about 3-4 years and I got it from another Surveyor who had it for about the same amount of time.

It still works great but does need to be cleaned and oiled like all other plotters.

Yeah, I mistakenly though HP1000, which was discontinued and the cartridges were around $140 each (ouch).

I'm really not exactly sure how long the HP100 has been sitting in the box, but I estimated 5 years. I was wondering how it compares to the HP450C and the HP500. My HP450C cost something like $2,000 with NO stand and NO roll feed.

Plotter

I love the HP 100.
I have no stand, no roll feed, one sheet at a time.
Cartriges are about $35-40 each they have lasted about 2-3 months depending on how much you plot.

THe print heads are about the same as far as cost but last much longer.
I have it setup on a small table and it doesn't take much room.

Of course I got mine for $0 so that was a big help.
Feel free to email if you have any specific questions. Email in profile is good

Perry,
I now have a 24" & 42" 500. I found the print quality of the 100 to be just as good as the 500's. They also use the same ink cartridges. If I found a bargin on a 100 I would not hesitate to jump on it. Some came with roll feed, my two did not.
