Impressive, and a logistical nightmare, I'm sure.
About 15 years ago, they moved an entire theater building about 170 feet down 42nd Street to make way for the Hilton Hotel.
It was the Empire Theater, (the Eltinge when built in 1912), and it now serves as the LOBBY for a hotel and 25 theater AMC multiplex.
It was determined that it was just as expensive to move the building as it would have been to disassemble and save the land-marked facade.
The engineer who supervised the move said "The trick is not to let the structure know that it's moving".
