Just something of interest that might be of interest to those around these them here parts. The HP15C is back.

Where are they available? All I see is a potential release date of between October and Decmber.
Perfect size for the top pocket, I think I'll get a couple.
I wonder if you could fasten a lanyard to it?
You know, to keep it out of manholes.
:coffee:
"This limited collector's edition" - Who wants a collectors edition calculator? I have a slide rule for my collection, I want a calculator to work with.
I still have my old 15C in good condition but I am sure I will put some $$ down for a new one also.
WOW I just saw this "Up to 100x faster than original edition"
I am wondering about HP and their calculator division. If HP is dumping their computer division does that mean they are going to quit on calculators too? It might be time to stock up on the good stuff or learn to use AOS (algebraic operating system).
It is funny that HP is finding that selling old calculator designs is good business, numbers don't change so the tools still work. First the HP35 now the 15C when can we expect the HP41 to be reintroduced ?

The picture on the green table is actually on the production line. We were a little late launching it (main reason was the manual took forever to get recreated properly). Units should be shipping around end of the month.

This one is basically an ARM processor emulating the original ROM code. Speed ranges from around 70-150x depending on the exact operation/program.
The calculator group does fall under PSG (the computer group HP is looking to split off). Nothing has really changed for us.
The whole "limited edition" thing is just marketing stuff. I kept telling them the biggest customers would be those who had a 15C and lost it, or had one they use and want another as a spare. In other words, there will be very few wanting to "collect" it, but rather they'd like to use it (or even put the old one away safe).

Although I work for the HP calculator group, the thoughts I express here are my own.
I think I'll have to get one. Wish they would do that with the 11c.
:good:
15C is back LOOKING FOR THE APP
I am still looking for a smart phone app for the 15c or the 11c.
Yeah! Guess i'll get one to back up the one I still have.
Where will they be available at?
What about batteries?
I have an HP32SII which takes about $15 worth of batteries. There is something wrong with it because it keeps burning through batteries in about 2 weeks although I don't use it that much. I gave up on it a couple of years ago. I even do a complete clear on it so it doesn't have to remember anything. That used to extend the battery life but now it burns through them anyway.
It could be the obscure batteries it uses don't sell well so it's tough to find fresh ones.
Hasn't HP heard of AA batteries?
"Hasn't HP heard of AA batteries?"
Probably, but you'd have to mash them a little to get them in a calculator that flat!
😉
The SX/GS series uses AAAs.
I use my 15C every day for all my non-computer calculations. I can't remember how long it's been since I had to put new batteries in it, but it has been 12 to 15 years. I bought the unit in 1983 and have only replaced the batteries 3 times in almost 30 years. I am debating whether to order one of the new ones just in case my original little jewel decides to give up the ghost.
I used the 15C for years until it fell out of pocket into a storm drain manhole. Still worked after it dried out except some of the display quit. So I'll probably buy one. When my 15C went bad I purchased a new 42S which I still use. I think the 42S is a better calculator for daily use. So I'd rather see a 42S come back. I'd buy a couple of them to make it till the end. They could bury one of them with me.
Please keep us posted.
Where is the link to make a purchase?
Tim-
Now if there was to be a continuing source for the 41CX, I'd be a verrrrry happy camper !
FixthatCalc does a terrific job.
How Randy does it I do not know, but I suggest that there are many of us who still use the CX with the 'red eye' to the printer.
I guess it is a long hope, but is there a stash of these anywhere ?
Or better still, how about a new run ?
Seriously,
Derek

Dave, a great big hint. Look for Energizer 357 Silver Oxide batteries. Look in the manual and it will probably mention silver oxide batteries. There is a knock off called a 76 or something in that realm but it isn't silver oxide and they only last a month or so at the most. I found some Energizer 357 silver oxide in a three pack at Sam's Club a year or more ago and got enough to power my HP42s, HP-11c and H-15c, plus a spare three pack. They are all going and going and going. The HP-32SII uses the same batteries. I figured the new HP-35s would but after opening one up it takes two batteries and are a lot larger in diameter and thinner.
The three pack says 357 Silver Oxide 1.5 V Batteries and of course a lot of French subtitles. It also has qty 3, replaces/ 303,A76,AG13,EXP76, LR1154, LR44, SR44SW/W, they are rather expensive if I remember right they were about $6 for the three. But they last years and years. You can find them in single battery packs, two battery packs and three battery packs.
You can find Maxwell SRW44W 357 silver oxide at Batteries Plus. I got some there but have never used them just have them in the Refrigerator in the office for emergency use. They came in 5 battery sticks and are about the same price as the Energizers. Might take a look at Amazon and see what you can find there, they are also used in some watches, take a look at a Jewelry Just make sure they are Silver Oxide and your problems with short battery life will be over.
The Energizer N cells for the HP-41 is getting hard to find, I still have some in the Refrigerator for that emergency too.

Hmmmmmmmm, where is a web site advertising space salesman when you need him 😉
Wow, 30 bucks cheaper than the one I bought in 1984.
At least one of those will find it's way to my house. I'm running the 15C emulator on my Android phone and love it, but there is no substitute for the real deal.
