Pictures never seem to show quite how steep hills are, but here's a 1/4 that needed to be located to survey a parcel divided by an aliquot description:

The corner after being replumbed:

The neighbor of the parcel being surveyed, about 1100' lower in elevation:

Nice to find them like that (still vertical on a steep slope). Probably depends on the time but most of the quarters I find use 1 inch pipe and section corners use 2 inch pipe.

Just out of curiosity, did you know it was GPSable when you headed up there? For me, it makes a big difference on what you head up the hill with.

RTK it - if you can.
Static it - if you need.
Kill trees - if you have to.

Was the brass cap a remonumentation of found evidence or was it a re-set by single proportion?

that is pretty good. that terrain is tough to work- especially this time of year- not enough snow to hold you and the ground is usually frozen enough you can't kick a foothold into it.

makes you wonder what happened to the original was it a stone or a post? - it possibly /probably slid down the mountain, but BTs would still be in place- semi arid- so thing don't grow and die that fast -

I don't think I can stomach finding any more originals conflicting with resurveys. LOL!

Think let sleeping ...... dogs......sleep for this one.

Almost everything is fed attached to that corner, except of course what I'm doing.

Chainsaw?

Nah, I think there was only just enough energy to carry a guy and his rover to that one. Anything else would have been for a different expedition. The down timber, calf deep snow, steep side slope and limited time frame needed an in and out solution. A couple of spikes and hand held distance meter were about all the supplies taken in for that monument.

(SHAKIN' MY HEAD.... )[sarcasm] AND i DON'T SUPPOSED THERE WERE DIMPLES ON THE SPIKES, EITHER...... DOWN DOWN... THE SPIRAL CONTINUES[/sarcasm]

😉

( THE REAL QUESTION IS WHETHER OR NOT YOU WERE CARRYING SOMETHING ADEQUATE TO FEND OF AN ATTACK BY A 6X7 BULL ELK....)

Yes, Pablo was going to bring me his dimple machine because he dimples everything-even grade stakes, but without one I'm just not able to preform this important function.

As far as wildlife-we have a plague of lions which worry me in those situations, moose are a problem, but they wouldn't be on that slope, a bear might be climbing up it but we "only" have the black ones, so it's the lions that are the issue but of course I wouldn't carry up there;-)
