At least that's what the filed corner reference for the S/4 corner of 23-17N-5E, I.M., Lincoln County, Ok. says was 'found'.
Here's some photos of "the" monument "found" at that reference's location:
C'mon man!
I'll bet the locator really sung out fot that one!
I'd turn the SOB in for not calling it a 6x9 mid-range speaker! Description of the monument is everything!
🙂
Mr Cash, I think you should pick it up, and place a nail under the middle, to retain the position, and take a few more pics of it, and send the pics to the person who called it the corner.
I have nothing but contempt for this kind of lazy c___.

Did you remove the speaker and search further in the area? It seems inconceivable that a field surveyor could mistake that for a monument.
Jim...
There's nothing under the speaker. There's still a 3/8" i.p. 15' north and west that was at a recorded and referenced position.....with published references still in place. The surveyor that found this called me because he knew I had worked extensively in the area. My 2 year old notes reflected the 3/8" pin.
I believe he also talked to the fella that found this junk and referenced it. He said the guy didn't have much to say.
We probably haven't heard the last of this.
Jim...
Nearly every day occurance on monumentation by buttwipes...Fix it and move on ....one corner one point.

Once upon a time while searching for an existing monument I discovered what appeared to be a threaded bolt with the threads upward. Thought that was weird. Besides, the detector had gone nuts when I got close to it. Kept digging and found that I had found one of the five or six lug bolts still firmly attached to the car axle which was the actual corner monument. It turned out the original surveyor also owned an auto salvage yard and used such monuments frequently.
