My office computer has two monitors but no camera. Do you have to have a camera to do zoom?
This year the technical session has a zoom option.?ÿ
The presenter isn't going to be on-site.?ÿ
No
You can watch but they can't watch you.?ÿ Don't raise your hand with a question cause they'll never know.?ÿ I've done without the camera but it's just not the same.
Sounds like the format requires sending it through a Q&A box. As far as them not seeing me, I have no problem with that.?ÿ
Zoom also works on your smartphone, that is, if you have one..
My advice is, "don't d it".
Zoom works fine on my Android, but the picture is too small to read much when people share their screen with pictures, Powerpoint, maps, etc.

Probably couldn't dedicate my phone to this, might have to drag a laptop down. Set it up in the conference room, three cardboard cut-outs around the conference table should work. JK
Zoom allows you to change your background so that you can appear anywhere you want.?ÿ A guy I meet with regularly always has some cartoonish monster in the background which is completely distracting.?ÿ Come to think of it, perhaps his kids set it up for him.?ÿ?ÿ
Zoom allows you to change your background
The green screen trick like the TV weather. It requires at least a uniform background, and I dont know how color sensitive it is. It also takes some video horsepower in the computer.
Zoom may work better without video which takes a lot of bandwidth.
I can only take so much Zoom, especially the bad microphones people have.
The fake background is definitely distracting at times.?ÿ If one stays practically motionless, it is great.?ÿ Handwaving and other big movements create seams that are very visible.
If you have a smartTV you can cast your smartphone screen
onto that TV for full scale viewing.

I have often set up my phone, then also logged in on my computer. Used the phone for comms.
Webcams are pretty reasonably priced, but you have to be careful not to get a crappy one. You can get lost in all the options and just because a camera says it is HD, doesn't mean it's good. A good one will also be better at handling the backgrounds and such. I've had my Logitech C920 since it was first released, and they are much cheaper now. All these years and I have no reason to upgrade. On Amazon, they are $99 but I happened to see one at BestBuy.com yesterday when I was checking an order status and it was only $74. They've even added a privacy cover for it that wasn't a thing when I bought mine. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-c920s-hd-webcam/6321794.p?skuId=6321794
