I don't see anything called visual cogo under the points tab
Maybe under cogo then, going from memory. ..

yes they are in order
Lpoint
Put your starting point number in, then enter and assign.

I wish the Embedded cad version had a proper 2d line command though. Serious fault in the software in my eyes and it makes no sense to me for it to be left out. I know there are other options but they suck compared to standard 2d autocad line where i can just point the cursor and enter the distance with no extra stupid steps.
I am so glad you mentioned this. I am new to Carlson and am used to drawing lines the way you mentioned. I finally gave up on trying to figure out how to make it work.
Type ea at command line for enter and assign. Point numbering will follow settings in point defaults.

I'm late, but you can also use the point drop down menu, and go under point default, choose the defaults you want, like point number, layer, etc. then go to the (dangit, brain freeze) second choice down, where you draw points, and one of the boxes at the bottom is enter and assign points. Same as Shawn says from there. Much of Carlson has at least 3 different ways of doing each thing.
The shortcut Shawn mentioned is the direct path
this will open a box to enter or edit points
Points...... Coordinate File Utilities...... Input-Edit Point
enter point values from the command line
COGO..... Enter-Assign Point
you would have to search the toolbars, sure there is one in there
type a question mark at the command line and hit enter
Will open a list of commands
print this out
all the shortcut commands to enter at command line

Under Points>Point Group Manager, you can create and manage (add to, delete from, or eliminate group) a group of points. Let's say that you had a set of topo points that you didn't want to display while working with your boundary/traverse points, then you'd create a group with only the boundary points and another with only the topo points. You could draw your boundary/traverse points and then draw the topo points later. I create a point group for each day of data collected, and use the date (i.e.- 8-8-16) as the name of the point group. Carlson has many routines (i.e.- contouring, erase points, etc.) that you may select a point group for instead of manually selecting points or typing in a list.
Point groups can also be used to draw polylines, in the order the points were entered, draw boundaries, with curves, figure areas, used as a basis for the legal description writer, and more
Points pull-down
Draw-Locate PointsEnter and Assign
If I have more than a few, I usually just hand punch them into a txt or csv file, and then import. (PointsImport Text/ASCII File)
I like the ability to associate and dis associate the coordinate files, to and from the dwg files.

Go to the Points screen and pick Add
