Hey Guys,

?ÿ

I'm trying to test some software improvements and I need some testdata.

Specifically I am looking for WMS or WMTS servers that require user authentication (login & password).

Most of these servers seem to be open (no login needed)

If anyone knows of any they can share I would be most grateful

Thanks

I bet USGS’s EROS uses authentication that you can probably get an account for..

or not. This page has a link to a How-To and the instructions show the u/p fields blank.

@jimcox

No, I had to edit my post, even though EROS requires a login for its website, apparently it doesn’t require credentials for the WMS. Seems weird to me.
At risk of suggesting another flop, maybe EarthExplorer would require credentials?

WMS is sort of like offering your maps to anyone that might like looking at them.

And seemingly almost always for the public good.

"We've made this cool map, we might as well share it"

Its great, awesome eye candy, I love where this wee rabbit hole is taking me (yeah, I really AM a geo-geek)

Try GeoServer, MapServer, and MapProxy.
