Greetings,

I use Topcon Magnet field software. For GPS we usually use parameters to get grid-to-ground corrections for local grid. I need to export .gc3 files from Magnet to control processing of aerial photos for maps. When I try this, I get an error message "Export Error! WGS->Local localization not found". I get this error even though I do have a grid-to-ground set up in the configuration.

Would someone be able to provide some guidance as to how to get a .gc3 file out of Magnet?

Thanks

Sounds like you are using a projection with a user-defined scale factor. This is NOT a localization, therefore the software can't create GC3 file automatically. The GC3 Localization file contains the local Cartesian Coordinates (N,E,Z) married with their relative Geographic Coordinates (Lat/Lon/Ell). From which the software calculates the transformation, rotation, and scale factor.

Contact me, using Topcon Magnet Tools I can create a GC3 manually from your data set.

Thanks, Lee. I do have Magnet Tools software. So is that what is needed to create the gc3 file? I saw a video on YouTube on how to create a gc3 file. It looked like you have to prepare the data a little, putting latitude / longitude in correct format, putting it in excel and then importing into Magnet. Is that right?
