#1 Autocad's psychedelic behavior when hovering over hatches. Why couldn't they have made it so you had to hold a key down to get this kind of migraine inducing effect?!!

#2 Carlson's lack of consideration that we MAY just want to leave a report window open WHILE we are working!!!

It's the simple things I want improved...the no-brainer type improvements.

I'll take a stab at #2. When you have your report created, there is a Hide icon up at the top. If you select that, the report window will be minimized. It's going to do a great job of hiding itself. Mine seems to mostly show up on top of the Quick Access Toolbar. Unminimize it and it will stay open. I usually drag mine to another monitor.

Hope that's what you're needing.

For instance when I use the Inquiry -> Curve Info and send the results to a report window...After the results are reported, I get a "ding" noise when I attempt to continue to use AutoCAD while the report window is open.

If I click on the "Hide" button, the report window disappears in a kind of sneaky way. It trails off to the lower left corner of the monitor, then it magically appears at the upper left corner. That's why it is so hard to find. Very appropriately named command.

Now that the report window has hidden it's self, I can use AutoCAD without the dinging noise. However I can't see the report results...so I restore the report window and NOW I can see the report results AND use AutoCAD.

Kind of we todd did if you ask me. It's been this way for years.

Look at it this way:
If that's the worst thing that happens to you today, you are luckier than most.:snarky:

I no longer use AutoCAD, but I think this is controlled by surfing to Options|Selection|Visual Effect Settings and deselect the Hatches checkbox.

Wow. Just WOW. Lucky for you you're so far away, otherwise you'd get a big 'ol sloppy kiss.

That little bit of info made my week. For literally years I've been freezing my hatch layers until I'm ready to plot just because of that little annoyance. Many thanks! Learn sumpin new every day......THANKS!

One thing I will NEVER eat is ox tongue no matter how it is prepared. I have witnessed a few billion times said tongue doing things no one wishes to watch. One such case starts within a minute following the kerplop of the new calf hitting the ground. Another is the bull standing behind one of the "ladies" with a raised tail and sipping a bit of what is flowing. Uh oh, that was probably more than anyone wanted to know.

I use few hatches and I switched to MPOLYGONS which have similar issues.
They all go on a layer named -HATCH-EXISTING or -HATCH-PROPOSED.
Then I lock the layer and happily draft without the headache.

It seems like the default is to have everthing highlighted when the cursor is over it. I can't take it. It makes to sick to look at it.

This annoyed the hell out of me too so I fixed the settings so that there is no highlighting or any activity when hovering over anything in CAD. I did a quick search to figure out what these settings were but could not pinpoint them.
