I am trying to get an idea what would the best option for performing noted above tasks.
I do need to stake out very often the gutter/center line of the road after road reclaimed or needs to be milled and overlay-ed.
I am extremely happy with reference line application but it is mostly for staking of property lines (horizontally).
"Line Stakeout" is a great program and allows you to stakeout multi segmented alignments. It was developed in North America so it makes sense to us guys. "Roadrunner" on the other hand is a very powerful program for advanced roading with the ability to multi layer road alignments, etc. It is not what I would describe as intuitive or user friendly. Hope this helps!
Thanks Will.
So with application "Stake to Reference Line" I will be able to accomplish all tasks I stated above?
Let's say I have a point of begging with know elevation and I could program the staking every 15-25' along the line with vertical offset to be applied to the distance I would like to hold.
I think this application is included into Viva software so I don't have to even buy it.
I'm not exactly sure with the Viva nomenclature, but in system 1200 days there was "reference line", "line stakeout", and "Roadrunner". Line Stakeout would do what you are describing. They may have shuffled things around or renamed them with Viva.

Ref Line works well for basic roading but stops short of vertical curves. It is for working with vertical features and slopes however.
