We have a couple of old TDS Rangers with Survey Pro on then that from time to time will throw and error of "detected change of Base".?ÿ If you make the mistake of telling it to continue it calculates a new base point that isn't at your actual base point.?ÿ When you go back and check on the base unit it's still level and still on the point that it was set up on.
Anyone else have this issue??ÿ Better yet anyone know what causes it??ÿ Been searching Google this afternoon and I'm not finding any answers.
?ÿ
Thanks in advance for any advice!
I use a SP Ranger & Survey Pro with a VRS network. It will change base stations sometimes when on a large site. Guessing it grabs the base that is the closest. Never had any problems.
The message or warning you describe is indicative that your rover has moved to a position that is nearer another base that is broadcasting on the same frequency as yours.?ÿ If you allow this change to be accepted, your resulting points will be shifted by the difference in the autonomous reference positions held by the two different bases.
One way to prevent this from happening is to set a reference code that is included in the information your base is broadcasting so that the corrections also include a number (seems like the range is 1-30 or so) that identify your base.?ÿ In the unlikely event that the other base included the same reference number, it could still occur but this does help to prevent what you were seeing.
Our customers saw this quite frequently back in the heyday of the HiPer Lite+ systems as more and more people got those systems, it became increasingly common to have the base shift phenomenon you describe.
I'm running a much newer Ranger 7 and I will also get that error on occasion.?ÿ I also got it with the older Rangers we used to run. ?ÿ There have been some times that I'm pretty sure there is not someone else in the area running a base, although it is still possible.?ÿ?ÿ This happens to me maybe twice a year.
