Is there any reason, in "Stake Line/Arc", when you're setting a point on a line (or determining the intersect to it, perpendicular or otherwise), why you can't be ON the line? So, for example, if you are at point 1, use point 2 (also on the line) as a "back sight"; then do the intersect to point 3 some distance beyond point 2? I know I can do it from any other location visible to 1 and 2. In this case it'd be more convenient to be at point 1.
Thanks in advance.

I can't think of any reason why not.

It will work, but I'd choose the "Find Perpendicular to Line" option rather than the "Find Intersect to Line" option. With the Find Intersection to Line option I suspect that you may get less than useful info from the routine because the intersection of the line between the instrument and the prism will always intersect with the line being staked at the instrument location. The Find Perpendicular to Line option will give you the perpendicular offset left or right to the line being staked which would be far more useful in the case you described.

Makes sense. My Prism Girl is going to move it back and forth until it's on the line. I'll try perpendicular.
Thanks!
