So I may or may not have let my rover fall over from atop the 2M rod. All looks fine....the digital display is perfect. it is tracking sats and has radio to the base. Any chance I need to send it in for a quick double check? The specs say it can take a drop or 2.....

If it tracks sats and displays okay, the only remaining concern is whether anything inside moved to give you an offset in effective antenna phase center. Do you have a know position you can set it on for a check??ÿ Not sure what more the shop would do.

I was told someone hit something, with an antenna on a magnetic mount, on top of their truck; and it skidding down the highway. The salesman told me; accept for some scrapes, it was fine...

But I didn't see it, so, for what it's worth.

can you Upload and Download?

Can you check a few known points and see the results?

=============

back in the day some clown took out several cones and knocked over one of our Set2 total stations, breaking a leg on the tripod.
The PC called me, said it had a huge dent in the top corner, asked what to do.
I said to turn off the automatic adjusters, check for doubling, and check the vertical too...?ÿ adjust the cross hairs if needed.
(we all knew how to do that back then, 1988+/-)

Lenard called back, said all was fine, had used duct tape on the broken leg, and was able to work.
A couple weeks later it went to the shop, they looked inside, said it was perfect.
I never liked those Set2/Set3 instruments, but they were rugged.

PS: after the annual trip to the shop for clean/adjust/certification we usually readjusted the cross hairs ... the techs were not all that careful/precise.

@dougie

I had an ATX1230 on a mag mount doing some LiDAR verification on Hood Canal.  The mount designated sending the receiver head skidding down the road at +25mph.  The receiver continued to collect data and appeared to work fine.  It was totaled because the mount had pulled out of the housing and it rattled like a maraca.  Thanks to good insurance (replacement cost rider) it is now a GS16.

Never trust the mag mounts.
