I wish I had a "Save layer state" button. So that I could have "Worksheet Mode", Plat 1, Plat 2 and Plat 3 modes.
This would automatically put the plat into a particular state.
It would turn on, and turn off layers, and place it into a certain layer state.
Maybe it is already there, but I don't know where it is.

Named layer states is a standard AutoCAD function, though it's not available in CMS IntelliCAD (don't know about other ICAD flavors). Which CAD engine are you using?
I have Carlson 2009. It does not have Intillicad, but Acad engine.
Thanks
Nate
HEY! I think I found it. Layer States. Under Layer Properties Manager. It is a weird little symbol pull down.
hey hey hey!
We cookin wi peanut oil now!

Nate
Nate,
Try typing "lman". Not sure if that is available in that version though.
"IMAN" does not work.... but the little pull down does!
Thanks so much, Jim!!!

I prefer the command line "Layer" "stAte" [etc.], but then I don't use pulldowns much.
You can also use paper space, to turn on and off any layers you want . So in model space you can have all layers on. And each paper space drawing have only what you want to see .

I used to use those Layer states quite often when working on complicated drawings with lots of layers.
Nate, I have a 2 page training document that will show you how to run paper space. It's written is a manner that even my line cutting guys can understand it. Once you get it down pat, you will be able to hold the little one with both hands and let him/her do the typing.
Send me your email address if you would like a copy of the Word Document.
Check your email.
I have training papers that I have done for the in-house mob that may help you in other areas. Let me know what you want and I will see what I have.

Is there any way I could get one?
Much appreciated if I can.
Copy sent. Check your email.
Hey, y'all let me know if it makes sense and works for you. My knotheads got the idea, but that does not mean that I don't need to refine it some.
Need anything else, just let me know and I'll see what I have.
And to all of y'all that sent me a request via email, those emails went to my home email and I just sent out all of the copies and info you requested.
I hope it makes sense to you and helps you out. If you need anything else, just let me know. I'm not as good as Jennifer DiBona, but I do know some stuff!! 😀
Dear Dent,
Thank you so much for the information, you are an inspiration to all surveyors out there.
My ultimate goal is to create a raw file that has ALL the information. That way, all you will to need to do is: download the raw file, adjust some text; do a QA/QC; hit the print button; send it to the client.....
TOTALLY automated drafting.
I think I have it down to a 2 step process for a boundary/topo survey, but there are still a few bugs.
I'll let you know, once I've come up with a workable solution....
Dougie
Thanks for the kind words Doug.
What you are aiming for is exactly what I have finally gotten down to. The KEY is getting the descriptors correctly entered. Then apply multiple coding, proper +7, -7, JPN and CLO commands and you are there.
Adding the text through the atrtribute tabs in field to finish will allow you to automatically label inverts, tree types and sizes and a ton more stuff.
Getting Field to Finish to do everything automatically makes it easier on the field guys (the line work, etc. shows up on their toughbooks as they shoot it) and when it all happens automatically, magically and correctly without any problems for the rookie drafters, makes life just so much more easy!!
Thanks Cptdent.
Now I hafta clear my brain, and start larnin sompin new!!
