Recently whenever I try to insert a SID image into LDD I get a unhandled exception error. I can convert the SIDs to tiff files and they work fine, but the resolution isn't as good. Anybody know of a solution?
I assume that you already have the raster design object enablers installed and have had success in the past inserting Mr Sid images. If not that's the first thing to do. Are you on 2009 or earlier?
Everything worked great until a couple of months ago. I have LDD 2008. It appears to me that they have changed something in SIDs that LDD doesn't like.

First thing I would try is to download and reinstall the object enabler from the above link.

I'll try that. I have two computers however, one with Window 7 64 bit and one with Windows XP that both give the same error.
