Sheesh.......call me cheep. I could probably spend the $89 to buy Foxit Standard, but here goes a work-around:
I have the free version of Foxit Reader. I opened the FEMA Elevation Certificate in PDF file format and filled out all the fields. I had previously created an image file of my scanned signature and output my PLS seal to a bitmap file. I used the Foxit software to insert these images in the appropriate places. Since I want to maintain the security of my signature and seal, I wanted to print pages 3-5 of the 15 page certificate to another PDF file. Well, problem #1 popped up. All the populated fields will NOT print to another PDF file. A quick goofle search revealed similiar problems and solutions from others, including writing to an XPS writer. I am running Windows XP Pro, so no luck there - all I got was gibberish.
So, being the enterprising young man I am, I said, ":pissed: to heck with this!:pissed: " and used Foxit to "snapshot" the contents of the entire page. I then pasted each page to MS Word document pages where I had set the margins to 0.2 all around. This worked OK, including the color photos that were attached. The pasted text was not as dark as I wanted, but it will do. I then appended the OPUS report, Quad map and Google Map images and printed the whole thing out to one PDF file.
There has GOT to be a better way. Buy the software or continue doing things the hard way!
What do you guys do?
I used to be a cheapskate too until I got Adobe Pro.:-P Don't know how I ever got by without it.
I have an old (6.0) version of Adobe Acrobat, bought on e-bay for $60 several years ago. It runs fine on my XP Pro. It keeps trying to update itself but I don't let it. Installing the Acrobat created two virtual printers, which show up as Adobe PDF and Acrobat PDF Writer.
The Adobe PDF printer will create a new .pdf file from one or more selected pages of another .pdf, including fill-in fields. The Acrobat PDF Writer allows for selecting larger sheet sizes and makes very good .pdf files directly from CAD.
The Acrobat can also be used to store a .pdf file as a collection of one-page .jpg images. Those can be changed around as desired with photo software. One or more pages can then be made into a .pdf with the Acrobat.
Get Adobe Acrobat Pro, and use the digital signatures. If any one changes your PDF file, the signature is erased. You can also password protect your documents to various levels. It may cost a few dollars but it is worth it.
