I use Cyclone, Kubit, and Cloudworx. I would use different things for different tasks, though.

What kind of scanner will you be using and on what type of projects?

faro X330 and Velodyne (32 I believe).

Faro will be run both static and in conjunction with velodyne on a mobile unit.

I go for training on the unit for the next week.

Mostly streets, perhaps more.

Thanks.

I use Cyclone and RealWorks. However, getting info to transfer between the two is not as easy as one would think. Still trying to find a good solution.

I have been playing with the Carlson Point Cloud Demo. I am fortunate that Dave Carlson just opened a weekenders' office in Town and I can look to him for some direction. I have put Gary Rosen on alert and may get him here for a week to train me in the Carlson if I choose that route.

I tried Scene for about ten minutes before getting busy with other things. I am sure there are other options as well. Fortunately I have the summer to figure it all out before we have to produce for the first contract.

I like Carlson and I think Dave is a good guy. But I don't correlate Carlson with point clouds. Not yet at least.

Carlson Point Cloud seems to do more than C3D point cloud.

We have C3D too. Haven't tried to process a point cloud with it yet. Have heard it isn't as robust as the others , but is on a fast track to catch up. I'm sure it will be a player soon.

Its not there yet at all. In my opinion it wasnt worth the $5000 price tag yet. We have yet to find something better than Cyclone and other Leica scan products. I think it has potential, just not there yet.

I agree with you 100%. Cyclone carries a hefty price but I don't think it has an equal. The Leica Haters will point to a myriad of other options, but most are in combination with something else, yes it is expensive but well worth it in my opinion.
I think that some people are looking for a low cost entry point into the world of High Definition Scanning. I personally don't think it exists yet. Leica introduced the MS50 and lured some people into believing it was the ticket into Laser Scanning. Although it is light years ahead of the Trimble VX it is no comparison to a full blown Laser Scanner.
