Hi all--

I'm in the market for a new plotter. I'd like to get a plotter/scanner combo unit.

I don't need anything bigger then 24".

My real question is--What is the most streamlined product you have seen or used? I am trying to save space and can only really fit it in a small corner.

This is not going to be a heavily used machine, possibly once a week or so. Our main plotters are in our offices, but I would like something for my home office.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks!

Circa 2007 when we still had an economy, I had the same objectives. I wound up with an HP 110 Plus color plotter. Compact, fits nicely on a table or desk. I just measured it, its 40" wide, 12" deep & 10" high. Plus the detachable paper trays in front.

Made great plots. A bit slow, but crisp line work & colors. And very inexpensive in the plotter world.

Haven't used it in several years after I kinda had to move to smaller quarters, so I haven't hooked it up. I just use the local print guys now, who are very cost effective.

Thus, it would be for sale. I have no idea what it's worth.

Wayne, I am still using a HP 100, basicly the same as yours, but it does not do roll feed.

The Ink cartridges for it are around 12 bucks each, and it takes 4 of them.

The Print heads are about 25 bucks each, and it takes 4 of them.

If it is not too dried out, it will only need those changed, and you will be probably be good to go.

I also have a 100, which was the predecessor for the 110, and you just can't beat it for the money. Seems like I paid around 1k for it several years ago without roll feed. I don't use it much, but it's ready when I am. I can't find ink for $15, though, that's a bargain. I was thinking it was around $35 per cartridge for hp brand, and about the same for print heads.

I cannot offer a suggestion on what to check out, but there is a factor you should consider.

I recently had my HP-500 serviced and was discussing new printers with the shop owner. Apparently many of the new printer/plotters have a regular routine that uses lots of ink to clean the print heads. You could wind up replacing expensive ink you never used.

Something to be aware of as you search for a printer/scanner replacement.

I got a HP T120 recently that is great and great for the price. Sure, a scanner would be nice, but I think you will pay a lot for it.

Thanks for that info---the use would be rare enough that I don't see that as a huge burden--but it is good to know
