Just purchased a Nikon Nivo with Survey Pro 5.2 onboard. It appears that the instrument needs to be leveled in order to do anything in Survey Pro. For example, if I want to just add a point in a job while in the office, I have to level up the instrument on the desk and then do so. I know I can transfer to/from PC without leveling, but was hoping to do simple tasks within Survey Pro in office. Is there a way around this? What a pain if not!

Un-check the button at the bottom of the leveling screen. Enable Compensator I think???

This changed (on the Nivo) about version 5.0 I think.

The problem is that you (I mean me) do your stuff in the office, grab the instrument and start setting out on site. You level up the instrument using the plate bubble built into the Nivo (or the electronic bubble) not remembering that the compensator is switched off. You do a couple of days work without realising.
Now depending on the accuracy required in the particular work you were doing you may have a lot to redo.
If you find this as annoying as I do (did) please let Spectra (Trimble) know.
