Good Evening,
Anyone know of a good alternative to the ngs site for converting lat long points to state plane? The shutdown has blacked out the site. I have a small gps device and was hoping to put some waypoints from it onto a state plane grid in autocad.
winGMM is a great alternative. A little bit of a learning curve, but I'm pretty sure the manuals are available. BLM utilizes this software for many geodetic calculations, including conversion to SPC.
the software is free and available through the University of New Mexico website.
here's the link

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has a program called "corpscon" which will do that for you.
My ACAD LDD 2004 will take lat/long input from a point file.
Create a point file type from point file manager and specify the field.
Usually:
Field 1: point no.
Field 2: lat.
Field 3: long.
Field 4: elevation
Field 5: description
The USACE software package called Corpscon will convert between Lat/Lon and SPCS.
the temporary download site is
http://corpscon.silkwerks.com
once our server is put back online you can go to
http://www.agc.army.mil/Missions/Corpscon.aspx
the site is experiencing some technical difficulties and is not shut down due to pollitics
