So I am using Carlson 14 with our Civil3d 2010 version. I don't want to upgrade AutoCAD for multiple of reasons. So my question is how do I open the newer versions of AutoCAD and be able to see everything. When I do, I get these messages
and then this one...
I've tried everything that comes to mind and searched online with no success. Even had someone convert them back to 2010 and still get the messages. This basically shuts me out. What can I do so I can use the surfaces and points in the drawings?
If you would like email the dwg, and I will save it down for you.
I often get civil 3d files with their "smart" objects that come in as boxes with tiny text in the bottom corner of the box that says Aec object or something like that. Usually the proxy or "smart" objects are blocks, lines, and text that the original software is the only flavor that recognizes them. I have tried add on enablers to no avail. After a really helpful civil engineer spent some time with me we came up with the solution. If the originator of the drawing will open his, type "proxygraphics" and set it to 1, then save to 2004, 2010, or whatever, the drawing will be manageable with other cad flavors. I hope this helps.
That does help. I tried that command on mine, but it makes sense to be done on the orginal with the CAD. Let me see if someone can do that with the originals that I have and send them back. Thanks.
