The card that was decided on was the NVIDIA Quadro K4000

"Supercharged performance for graphics-intensive applications, large 3 GB on-board memory, multi-monitor support, and stereo capability in a single-slot configuration."

NVIDIA recommends this card for Autocad 2D applications, with occasional 3D modeling.

It's not on the Autodesk graphics card database because it just came out this year, which has me somewhat nervous. NVIDIA has assured me that it has been tested with Autocad and that Autodesk's website just has not been updated yet.

I'll pass on the 16GB RAM suggestion and see how it goes.
