Some may think, that is "DEVILISH".
My wife is taking a course for Medical Assistant at the local community college. A few days ago they were getting rid of some old literature, one of which was the manual for Word 2007, so she snagged it. It is 8.5 x 11 spiral bound and nearly 2.5" thick. I said "Well that explains a lot about that program."
I, too, would have preferred to stay with Word Perfect. I'm a darned good Word user if I say so myself, and still can't totally control how stuff jumps around on the page. New versions with default settings (like auto double spaced paragraphs and calibri font) make me crazy. And then there's cutting and pasting nested tables--gotta love that!
I'm interested in trying out Open Office.
I am with Mr. Purvis. I enjoy Openoffice. IT IS FREE!!! and my motto in life is
'if its free, its for me'. Furthermore I like the way you create a pdf from the word doc better than MS.
I started out on an Apple II before Carlson was translated to IBM code.
That meant using Apple Writer. When Carlson moved into IBM we made the transition.
Wordperfect was similar and did many other good things. I have kept with that for many reasons.
I don't even have MSword on my computer nor any of the MS office suite. Gates made them to have a way of taking over my computer and becoming the default program for everything.
IN the past I would create a customized keyboard. Since then have moved into using the symbol pulldown window because when I would send out files to other users all my special keystrokes were not picked up on their machines and a full edit was necessary.
Wordperfect is easy to add words to the dictionary and creating macros.
I wish I could remember how to add different fonts because for some reason they have dropped frugal sans. It is embedded into a document I created while on v.4 so it is still available to me.
