So much quicker. But sometimes needs to be done by GNSS so wil fiddle with the styles tomorrow. Have some UAV data to process now first. Thanks alot for your help. I've phoned our local dealer twice and got a response of "trimble dc can't do it and why do you want to do it. Why dont you just use north?" so gave up on them.

Don't you just love our knowledgeable dealers. I wish mine would phone me for advice more often.

Try to stake out lines instead of points, so much easier in the field. We stake mostly from dxf files. It is as of you walk in Youri dxf, little problems with orientating Thatcher way.

What dc are you using? I gave a TSC2 on my S6 and a TSC3 on my R4 and R8. Havent tried setting out from .dxf files. 60% of the time the client only decides what he wants when I get on site then stick a dirty ruffled up paper in my hand and says "is this ok?"
Thanks for the info

If you don't have the roading package in Access you can use .rxl files to stake lines with Trimble gear. If you do have Roads I'm pretty sure you can use .xml files. We use the .xml files for as much layout stuff as we can on our Leica controllers. They're just as fast to pre-calc in the office as points but provide a lot of saved time in the field creating lines between points as well as when site conditions require different offsets than were calc'd. This is only of course if you have the ability to do the calc's before you get to the site or don't have access to a laptop and CAD while you're there.

been using a TS15 and captivate for nigh on 2 years now. the screen interface is a little more clunky than viva, IMO, but like others have said, once you get used to things it ain't bad. the equipment has been top notch, per my usual experience with leica.
run linework into carlson seamlessly (having cut CAD time down on the order of, like, 80%+ on topo). the initial set-up in both carlson and the collector takes a little bit of time, but it's not bad.
We have the TSC2's. and stake mostly lots and centerlines of roads/cables. Besides the dxf we also use the cogo routines to calc new points for staking when we do have to calc new points from measured points. I have found coge powerfull ... but you have to read the manual to get used to it. We calc points, lines, arcs ...
Access has a lot of hidden features. Did you know you can stake to the line just by selecting 2 points in the map? There has not te be a line defined between those to points. It's all in the manual ...
