Am wondering if anyone can give me guidance on getting a raw data output format file for Leica Smartworx for a total station. My TCRP 1203 used to have an export raw data in .fbk format, however I just had my firmware updated and that option is no longer available. Am wondering if a .frt file can be developed for ascii output of the raw data, or if there is another way to acomplish exporting the raw data.

I've been able to create a .frt file in LGO Tools which is then loaded onto the instrument to accomplish exporting the coordinate files in ascii format, however I'm not clear on how to get a file together to export the raw data.

Thanks,
any help is very much appreciated.

Jeff

The .fbk format was probably available from a .frt file. I used to have a .frt to export RW5.

Is that pronounced "fart file"?

Jeff,

It sounds like you may have been upgrading from a very early version to something newer. In the first year or so of the life of the TPS1200 you needed a format file (.frt) to export the FBK formatted files. Leica developed a free application that runs onboard the instrument called Field Data Extractor (FDE) that will export a FBK, RAW or RW5 file without the use the format file. It may be that you will need to make a few changes if you are keeping linework commands with the FDE application versus the format files. If you are using automated line work you will need to create the lines onbaord SmartWorx to get the FBK to be formatted he way it should be.

Wmail me and I can either send you the old FRT file and/or give you the FDE application to load and try.

PLease make sure to tell me what firmware you installed. I would imagine that it should be FW version 8.71 which is the latest version.
