I might possibly be in the market maybe for a large format scanner printer one of these days.
I am thinking it would be nice (although probably not smart in the hot and cold) to be able to keep it out in the garage without any connection to any computers at all. I would just take a jump drive out with pdfs to print.
Where can I find something like this?
What are you guys doing in this department?
We bought a Kip 3000 about 6 years ago. That's some of the best money we ever spent. It is really a great machine. However, at $19,000 I wouldn't keep it in the garage.
> ... at $19,000 ...
ouch.
Kinko's, baby!
Brad,
There was a discussion on here about these scanners a few months ago. It seems like the scanners were running around $3k. This would scan large format prints into the computer. They were not copiers.
I want a large format scanner for the office, but don't need the large copy capability.
Keep us up to speed on what you find. Many of us are interested.
Good luck
Just got one of these babies for the survey department last week. Goes without saying that the engineers already had one.
Runs around 11K, but we lease.
I've seen scanning services as low as $0.75 per page for 24X36 black and white. For a small company, I don't think it's worth it own one and have to maintain it and make a place for it in the home office. I do have a large format printer, though.
The KIPS are nice, we had one where I used to work, but it's not cost effective unless you're a multi-crew office that uses it everyday.
They aren't for everyone. We've run 9 miles of linear feet of prints through ours.
We have an OCE' 600? printer/scanner for black and white and just got an HP ####, cant think of the model number at the moment, for color plots and scans. I think all of our offices have the same thing, so we might have gotten a deal....

I am afraid you are apparently right. Nearest one is 30 miles away.
I guess I was hoping for another $200 - $1,000 Brother type deal (like my awesome MFC 6490-CW). Oh well.
Dream on dream weaver.
