I've got a couple of large dwg files that were emailed to me. MicroStation won't open any later versions of AutoCAD. From what I can tell, AutoCAD 2012 or earlier is required with my MS V8.

I tried all afternoon to download and install AutoCAD's DWG True View..which says it can "save back" newer dwgs to older ones. All it does is crash with some error about an entry point in some dll file... frustrating.

Anybody got a newer v of AutoCAD that can save these back?

[email protected]

It would help make my "tomorrow" a little easier..:-$

thnx

An associate installed 2006 AutocadMap when we started working together and downloaded DWGgateway that placed a tab in the 2006 AutocadMap command.

To open other drawings I go thru DWGgatgeway tab to open any version.

I have found that it will only save from 2006 backwards to earlier versions.

It still hiccups on some dwg files.

email to h a r r i s s u r v at y a h a o o dot c o m (no spaces) if I can be of help.

If it's a Civil 3D DWG there are objects that can't be saved back.
The best way is to have the person who sent them to you save them back using a simple
SAVEAS command and pick a earlier version.

I have one client I have to explode all of the good stuff for them to use my drawings.
I'm using C3D 2015 (Which is awesome btw)
