Not having had any formal training in Carlson Survey I am having some trouble figuring out the process involved in balancing traditional loops. I usually work with .FBK files.
If I were to do a simple traverse starting on pt 2 backsighting pt 1 and closed into them calling them 11 and 12, what would I do to adjust the points.
Any advice is appreciated.
This is one of the training movies available on the Carlson Web Site that I think will help you out.
You can also download the Carlson Survey owner's manual and check out the chapter on Edit-Process Raw Files. The manual is a LARGE file, but very handy to have. I even loaded it on my Nook eReader so I can have it with me where ever I go.
I took some time today and extracted and modernized the Traverse examples from the Edit-Process Raw Data command as susggested earlier. I've posted the content and sample RW5 files (for a limited time) for your review.
Thank you for the examples, it is odd to see how differently we do things.
We always start our traverse occupying 2 backsighting 1. We typically take a compass bearing from 2 to 1 and shoot the distance. We will either assume coords (or use gps) for 2 and use the bearing and the distace to create 1 coordinate wise.
So our raw data will having a back bearing to 1 and a coordinate value.
Thank you again for the examples and taking the time. I love this Board !
