Anyone ever create a 3-d model in SketchUp then upload it to Google Earth? It's not too bad once you watch a couple of videos. If you have, post some coords.

A nice small 26x26 former hunting camp that now has silestone counter tops and a brushed stainless LP fridge.
We can't see a 3-D building at this location. We have 3D checked in the Layers; what else do we need to do? Sounds like fun.
Thanks--

Hey, Are you going to "come clean" about your involvement in this?
Pleas Fail to Sway Seashore Chief!
I see that you got a mention, almost, "Price responded that he relied on local and Seashore experts to make his decision." I'm assuming that YOU are the "local expert!" 🙂
Should be a good meeting with the seashore GIS rep next month!!

sorry, i did not realize that Google has to QC the model before it appears for everybody, I'll repost when it shows up... i get to see it through a preview. i was too excited...
as a surveyor i have taken the exact position i am supposed to take: neutral. i have provided some information to the seashore and some information to the town and some information to the camp owners.
it's a shame, but they took those 5 buildings with a 30-year lease. the lease expired years ago, they maintained a tenancy at will on an annual basis for over a decade. granted the lease was as high as 13k a year and as low as 5k a year and these were owned by the families since back in the 50's, but the beach is getting torn apart. perhaps these would have survived another year or five, or perhaps they would have been in the drink this year (such a mild winter).

I happen to agree with George on this one. I think he's showing some guts going forward!

I sincerely hope NONE of that information was based on Google information, and you were only using Google Earth for "demonstrative purposes". That's OK. Relying on anything else from Google, well, I'll reserve comment (although you can probably guess the gist of my unspoken comment)...

I was disappointed that I had to georeference the model to the picture. There was no option to enter coordinates. The elevation was based on the dtm Google used, likely from gis. The model itself is close to real; I did make it square. It is still an amazing tool, even though there are pieces of erroneous information.
The Town has flown that beach between 200-300 times since 1987 when the first breach did the same thing. I've been scanning the images with the idea of pasting them and uploading them to GE to use the timeline to see the longer track. There are several reports on the topic, if you are interested in the breaching cycle of the barrier beach. http://www.pleasantbay.org/reports-and-documents Look for Graham Giese or Steve Mague as the authors.
