Is it possible to get a goereferenced image from Google Earth into IntelliCAD?
I usually get images from PASDA, but the they are getting to be a little outdated, not showing the Marcellus shale well pad on my project site.

Just Did It In Carlson Survey 2004

Downloaded the Latest Google Earth Online. Went to Waymart, PA, Intersection of Routes 6 and 296, and saved an image .jpg. The image is from 9/12/2012, not that new, and includes Lat, Lon, Elev. and eye altitude. Insert by using "Draw" pulldown, "Raster Image" and loaded the image.

I would have to play with it a while, I assume the Lat & Lon are of the midpoint of the image so I could place the image center. Scale I would have to play with, but I have scaled other non georeferenced images to fit my field data and it served the purpose.

Email me and I will forward the dwg and image for perusal.

Paul in PA

In ACAD 2012, just type in goog, a window pops up with the option of pick drawwing
extents. pick it and google earth comes up with the image extents set to your drawing.
Save as your proposed image file. (I've noted that the more arbitrary the filename, the less problems it encounters - do not name it with your drawing file name) Go to draw image file or place image by world file. Do you have Google Earth loaded?

so I got the image from Google Earth, go to file>save as>jpeg
which is apparently just a screen shot
then put the image in the dwg and had to scale it up by about 40 which makes the image very blurry
then I can just fake it into place using road intersections
I was wondering if there is an easy way to have Google Earth create the "world file"
that you need to get it right where it is in the world

also is something I can do about the blurry part of it?

the image will be based on your screen resolution. You may have to compile a mosaic of smaller images and put them together like a jigsaw puzzle to get better resolution.

If you post what area you're after (lat/lon) I'll download the image and a projection file for it. I have a custom software that generates these image files but I can't give out the executable.

I know of a hidden command , Type in google_image ... It will open google earth . You must have correct state grid selected in settings. You will get an error but wait the 25 sec and follow directions.. I find the monochrome selection works the best. But it will come in automatically.
This command is in carlson intellicad
