OK anyone using this data collection software with a Trimble 5603 ? I see that i can get the equipment and software to lock onto the prism yet I get an error when I try to make a measurement- distance error . how can this be when I am locked onto the prism? I am able to get results for check backsight. Target manager does not seem to allow for the creation of targets with a 2 mm offset, the standard for trimble 360 mini prism... I am used to TDS... point to the backsight assume a direction and then the software asks if in want to store a backsight yep and away I go.....
The o ly options I have are 5600 or 5600 robotic....when I issue an i for the instrument it state the instrument is 600? The flip scope function works .... I am using the demo software for fieldgenius on a windows 10 laptop.

The lock onto the prism, i.e. tracking it, is not using the EDM, it is tracking via the LED of the active prism. However, I get the same "distance error" when taking a shot. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work, but gave up. On the same controller I have Fieldgenius and SurvCE, the latter does work. I think there is another thread on this site about needing a certain later version of Fieldgenius.

I have spent several hours just trying to get the dang thing to work. My instrument has only 2 options 5600 and 5600 robotic. I got the distance measurement error until it magically seems to correct itself. I think it took me awhile to get the right inst. profile set up with the correct communication perimeters. It is like buying a stereo , never can get one with all the knobs you want. The version I am testing is 8.4 9 is out now...
yes it says that but I was able to get it to work just fine with version 8.4....
Has anyone got the Trimble 5600 series, i.e. 5603 to work with newer versions of FieldGenius??ÿ I.e. v11??ÿ Or only way is to use a really old version?
