Hey, All,
My Quixotic project is to convince Microsoft (or any other spreadsheet maker) to add degree mode and all the standard related features to Excel, as you can find on any scientific calculator, like DMS to DEG. There are some good tricks and workarounds, but, come on, they should have added these features 20 years ago. I think it's because nobody is asking for them.
I completely agree! I cannot believe they didn't add this function many many years ago!! I've seen where somebody wrote up some kind of subroutine for this, but it was so complicated I didn't want to spend the time and effort. Also, you have to convert all degrees to rads in order to get the sine, cosine and tangent! Has nobody at Microsoft studied geometry? I'm amazed at this.
I'll help the effort if I can.
I wrote a free add-in that gives you the surveyor functionality of an HP41 in your spreadsheets.
I haven't updated it for the very latest Excel macro language, but I think it still works
Let me know if you want a copy...
I agree. Nice to see you posting Martin.
I would like a copy. My e-mail is in my profile. Have a great week all.

Happy to send you a copy - but I need your address ....
Excel Degree MODE?
It seems to me that Excel has very few modes. I think one of the few is whether to follow the Windows version of date calculations, which incorrectly treats 1900 as a leap year, or the Macintosh version, which considers the date to be in 1904. Calculators don't usually receive data from people other than the owner, but spreadsheets are exchanged all the time. It isn't obvious how to create a mode that still allows exchange of spreadsheets among a fairly wide community.
Yes, I agree. This is the reason why I wrote an Excel add-in to handle angle value conversion.
This application is for local to grid transformation.
