Does anyone have a simple descriptor key file for me to build upon? Is there a book available like civil 3d for dummies?:plumbbob:
Joshua,
You could try posting on the Civil 3D Forum. Phillip J. Zimmerman's Harnessing Autodesk Civil 3D 2010 has a really good section on description keys.
Good luck on your new job.

I'm a slow learner. My boss allowed me to hire THESE GUYS to help out.
I got the Pinnacle Series and the phone support. Seemed spendy at the time but it sped up the process for me, so I'd say it was well worth it. The phone support is really good. Occasionally wait times are in the 10-15min range, but they've always cleaned my mess up much faster than I could have.
Thomas (TJ) Wagner is my sales guy.

What version of Civil 3D are you using? I have mine for the most part set up with the descriptor key set and the linework code set. I can also send over my blocks.

Believe me you will want to create your own from scratch. There are so many interchangable parts and links and components and.....you get the picture.
A description key file is very very small part of the big picture. We have had our civil3d field to office setup for over 2 years and still update things on a monthly basis. Its all a work in progress.
Thanks to all for the info. I have built a field to finish setup in LDD, TGO, and now starting on C3D. We do DOT work in several states using micro station also. I almost wish I could just use HASP again!
