Ok, it's now time to stake a small parking lot with some interesting grades from the designer for ADA requirements.
As it happens, my old and failing eyes do not seem to locate a way to get Carlson to output a "dtm" file (rather than just using a slow cumberson "dxf" file), to do a surface stakeout for finish grade.
The rock base is a breeze, ONE catch basin and some underground utilities.
Due to the "micro grading" as I call it, they wanted me to put the topo foot on the rod, spray it with "Pam" cooking spray, and ruin a good pair of boots during paving to check grade as they roll it out.... whew!
Back to the question...
How to convert a *.tin file to a *.dtm file for the TSC2 running Survey Pro 5.1.1???
And this is how monday starts... 🙂

We use TDS Survey Link to convert a dxf to a dtm. Not sure how else we would do it tho..
That is over thinking for an asphalt engineer and quite a funny for a Monday.
They simply set the laydown machine to the correct height for their materials and it is full steam ahead and keep the batch supply acommin'

Even better.... the reason they want "ME" to check it....
the "designer" has a 1.9% slope through a A.C. Valley gutter section not
6 feet away from the only catchbasin, where his grade change is the greatest!
Thank goodness he's a P.E. and knows what he's doing......
My first response was for them to grab their "smart level" and go drag it
around behind the dang roller.....
Hmmmmm I may just stick with that one....... 😀
Good point, we just upgraded our Survey Pro (don't do it, it's slow!) so it now produces *.survey files that are only readable by spectra precision survey office.
To be fair, the update will export to a *.raw and *.job file format, which Foresight
DXM does not appear to read very well.....
GOOD POINT though, I could export the*.DXF file, read it into Foresight DXM, then download to the collector!!!!!
Shazammmm! B-)
You guys are the best (of course, that's why your here!)
I'll try this!!
