I have been using my Carlson data collector without issue. Yesterday while on a job it was not picking up all the points that I had stored. Then after using it for a while, it would not connect to the GPS units. Now today, I tried to use it all of my programs I had on the data collector are gone & my last job stored is not there. I have since tried to store a mock job. It says it is there but will not bring it up. Any suggestions on what I can do or what is occurring?
Have you tried a hard reset?
Yes, I have tried soft & hard resets several times. I have tried to reinstall the programs but that is not working. When I reinstall serv CE it says installation unsuccessful.
It sounds like it's time to contact Carlson support.
HARD-HARD Reset Surveyor2 this you have done it sounds like
Suggest a soft reset ie hold down power button for 5 secs and select reset
But before HARD HARD reset try the following
go to another blue tooth device like your phone make sure your phone is off or any blue tooth you have connected to before with the surveyor 2
... then try to connect back to your GPS rover using he usual methods via blue tooth etc.
Next
delete all blue tooth devices on surveyor 2 then look for your blue tooth on your GPS rover.
Via thru the usual motions.
Next if above fails SOFT/hard reset your GPS rover.
Repeat look for blue tooth devices-delete-reset surveyor2 and GPS rover............................etc
I have Never done a HARD-HARD reset which clears / deletes the SurvCe and reloads Win Ce
it is a last step and i have 3 surveyor plus and the HARD HARD reset is not used
usually the soft reset and the above get things working again...
I have done the HARD HARD reset and this did not solve the USB port problem
i was trying to find and it just caused a waste of time reinstalling SurvCe.
Our surveyor+ and gps go for months with no issue and just now and then if
the rover will not connect we go to any blue tooth device and go back to the rover
we wan't and this clears the blue tooth hang up this was with out Sokkia GSR1700CSX
with our new Leica GS14 zero blue/connection issues
The above may clear the Hang up
Like Jim says its a call to Carlson at this point

What OS is on the surveyor 2?
It should be 1.7.6.
Get all your data off and update if needed.
Your flash memory may be bad, I have seen two other devices with similar issue. If issue continues after firmware update, then I would contact juniper systems directly...
