I have been using this for several days now, I like what I see.

But, when I launch the software I get this error message now ("never" before in just AutoCAD):

Ladd's suggestion was this:

AutoCAD Objects in a DWG are proprietary to the organization which produces them. Autodesk and their LDT and C3D products are notorious for the use of objects and is the likely source of the objects in your DWG. When AutoCAD opens a drawing which contains these objects but doesn't have the "instruction set" on how to process the objects, they become "proxy" objects (they're there, but not really usable). The only ways I know of to prevent the proxy object dialog box from appearing is to propagate the use of the object(s) via the AutoCAD Object Enablers

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=2753223&linkID=9240618

or by saving the DWG back down to an R12 format. Carlson elects not to create objects and instead uses standard DWG entity types (polylines, blocks with attributes, text, mtext, etc) to display the data you create.

I went to the AutoDesk site & installed the enabler for Land desktop 2007 & even re-booted the computer.

I still get the same error message when launching the Carlson Survey icon.

Any other ideas to get rid of the Proxy Message ?

Thanks! Brad

Unfortunately, that dialog gives you no info about what proxy items you are seeing.

If you are seeing it at startup, then I assume you have the typical configuration where Autcad is creating a blank "Drawing1.dwg" during startup, and that's when you see this message. Is that the case?

If so, then the proxy objects are probably in whatever template you have set as your QNEW template. You might try going through your template and clearing out anything that looks extraneous, doing AUDIT and PURGE in the process. It might also be worth purging your REGAPPS (type "-PURGE R" at the command line).

If that doesn't work, you might try doing an "Export to Autocad 2007" (or "Export to Autocad 2004", if you don't have the 2007 option) on your DWT, creating a new DWT. Hopefully that will get rid of whatever proxy entites are in your template.

I forgot about this little jewel:

I'm not sure, however, which version of AutoCAD introduced this toggle so older versions of AutoCAD may not have the option.

V14 had it under the compatibility tab. Looks a little different but works the same.
