I just found this awesome command for Legal Description Writer in Carlson (Autocad 2015), but I am not quite sure how to get the software to know from which point along the polyline to start the description. It keeps just starting at a random point. The manual tells me that you can use the edit menu to change this... but I've looked at that and cannot see where to do this. Please help if you know how to do this!!! Thanks in advance! 🙂
You need to create your polyline starting with the first segment of your legal. I'll typically draft the boundary that I want to use for the legal and then copy and paste it off to the side. Then do a polyline edit and start turning the lines into the polyline in the order that you want to go. It's kind of a buggy feature though and sometimes it still doesn't start where I want it to, but that usually works. Hopefully someone else might know a better way.
Ok Thanks! I think I just put a window around the boundary to create my polyline instead of selecting individual lines. I will try this out 🙂 Thanks again!:-)
Under the edit drop down go down to polyline utilities, then edit polyline, then set polyline origin.
If your polyline is not going the right direction (clockwise) go to polyline utilities, edit polyline, reverse polyline.
C&G always had the best description writer of any of the software.
Point to point.
It worked 🙂 That's awesome! Thank you! You just saved me a whole lot of time...
I usually redraw a new parcel polyline over my boundary lines in the direction I wish the legal to read. I then move it over to the side alone to run area calcs and run the legal description writer. It provides me an additional blunder check and minimizes the bearing/distance typos for me.
Great idea, I will definitely do that! Thanks!
