I am running Carlson civil suite 2016 and I am trying to create points from text but it is creating the point sometimes at the grip I want (text alignment xy) top or bottom center and sometimes at the bottom left (geometry xy) about 50/50. Is there a way to tell it which grip or alignment point to use I have about 1400 grade points and don't want to edit each individually.
I have to think there would be a better tool/method to accomplish the same end result.
Do these "grade points" follow some sort of design feature or are they just randomly placed?
I am having a hard time understanding the necessity for converting text to points.
Sometimes these obscure routines have me scratching my head - why?
There may be a better way I was just trying something and couldn't figure out the random placement. It's a roadway but there are a ton of width and slope changes basically every cross section has a different roadway width. So by the time I did templates I might as well have done each spot individually. I do have x section drawings, center lines and profile lines but the cross sections do not always correspond the road widenings just 50'.
This can be done with the "autopnts" command - found in COGO menu Create Points From Entities
The point will be created at the insertion point and elevation of the text.
If the text insertion point is at the correct "spot" it should work.
That worked thanks.
Had to change the justification on a few
