First, I want to say that Carlson is BY FAR the best civil/survey CAD software I have ever used.
Two of multiple simple things that I wish they would improve are:
1. Make the CAD properties of the drainage flow arrows consistent with the rest of their program.
2. Fix the method that they assign properties/overrides for things like dimension bearing with leader. For example, when you dimension something with their Special Line command, the leader and text are same color and in same layer. But when you dimension with their Dimension Line Bearing/Distance with Leader, they are not.
It seems to me that one of the most useful upgrades to Carlson would be for them to take care of the multitude of things that to me do not seem intuitive when using the program to full extent for something like site design. These things have lingered a long time.
Again, if Carlson never even issued an upgrade for anything, I'd still say they are by far the best in my opinion.
:good: :good: :good:
Just got off the phone with them, they are by far the best and there isn't even a close third.
Cheers
Ralph
I just wish that when you run F2F and create point groups, that the list of point groups was in alphabetical order!!

I've taken the liberty of submitting these suggestions in to Dave Carlson who is our Executive Vice President of Product Development.
The F2F sort order request was supposedly sent in 3 years ago by Aaron Newman. I don't think its made it yet. Simple "sort order" command that would make finding items MUCH easier. Maybe you have more pull with the programmers. I hope.
I've used SurvCE for the last 7 years, excellent and better than anything I've seen others using over here in Europe.
One thing that would be nice to have is a 'Job analysis' button giving a brief summary of dates, times, duration, number of points etc for each job session, very handy for pricing, estimating future jobs etc.
First Class software and First Class Support. I have been a user for a long time, and even though most of my problems stem from Pilot Error on my part, they always get me back to the dock with courtesy and professionalism.

I will say that the Carlson 2013 Standalone is a real nice product after the first patch fixed some issues. There are some great improvements in there. I don't really think their tech support is as good as everyone else seems to think, but it is not worse than most other companies. I have identified some issues and even found a fix for one but they never posted the fix on their site. They do fix many problems and at least they send out a patch or two per release. I just believe that they are going through normal business growing pains and expanding to both Intellicad and Autocad offerings must have been difficult, but they have probably managed it as well as anyone could.
