What does this accomplish and why would you need to do it? Where would I see the benefit?

I think that a "PT" is considered a control point in SurvNet, so one way to eliminate the ones you don't want to hold fixed is to reassign them as "DS"

Thanks for the response, that reasoning makes perfect sense.
So, is there any importance to doing this if I am not using SurvNet?
